Activity 2 - Party costs

Print this page

You must use either Model 1 or Model 2 to develop your own model.

Think about which model you should use. What do want your party to offer? Where you can find out about costs? Will you need anything else for your party? Which venue(s) should you consider?

Decide which model you want to work with and save it in your Activity2 folder.

Change/add items in blue to suit your party plans.

For each venue, carry out research to find costs of your own. Make sure they are accurate and up-to-date.

Replace the examples in the model with your own costs.

Update your sources table to show where you got your costs.

Where a cost is made up of a number of items, show these clearly using another section of the spreadsheet. You may want to use formulae in the costs section to add up items.

How will you consider different venues? You could simply change details in you model or you could develop your model to compare different venues at the same time.

Develop your model to make it as useful as possible for the organisers. It must be formatted so that the results are very clear.

Test the model thoroughly. Make sure that it generates reliable and meaningful information.

Ask your test buddy and your teacher for feedback. Make changes if necessary.

Save your final model in your Activity2 folder so that your teacher and the moderator can view the results and the formulae.

Answer the model questions in your Activity 2 review.
